| Abstract: | Agro Belantik Sik Berhad (ABSB) is a farmer cooperative established to assist paddy farmers in Kampung Lintang, Belantik, Sik, Kedah, to operate their rice fields in a sustainable manner. The main responsibility of the cooperative is to manage its organic rice cultivation activities in an area of 9.5 hectares. In the early phase of the paddy farm, Kedah Regional Development Authority (KEDA), a federal agency that develops the rural communities in Kedah, assisted and supported the operations. This project is called Agropolitan project and aims at improving the income of local residents through the redevelopment of abandoned land in rural areas. To date, the management of the farms by the cooperative can be considered as successful. |
