Abstract: | The study of energy management at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) in Malaysia is examined in this teaching case. Inspired by UTS's "Platinum Index" rating on the Green Building Index (GBI), the General Manager of the Maintenance Department initiated an investigation into the patterns of energy use in the main office buildings. The case describes the goals of the research work, the background of UTS, and important energy efficiency concerns. Analysis of electricity bills, patterns of energy consumption, and the effects of green building techniques are some of the research findings. The results show that green construction initiatives and lower energy use are positively correlated. By highlighting the need for green building methods, the case seeks to draw attention to the importance of energy management in university campus facilities. It sheds light on the variables that affect energy efficiency and illustrates the positive effects that these activities have on the human, financial, and environmental spheres. The case serves as an example of ideas about energy efficiency and green building techniques, as well as how they affect human well-being, economic factors, and environmental sustainability. It discusses Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) and the Green Building Index (GBI). This case study serves as an example or best practice, showcasing UTS's effective energy management techniques. For organizations trying to improve energy efficiency through green construction initiatives, it acts as a model. With a particular emphasis on the achievements of green construction practices at UTS in Malaysia, the case examines the specialized field of sustainable energy management in the context of higher education institutions. |
