Abstract: | Under the Tolong Menolong Initiative, TM Kedah Perlis implemented a two-month food bank program initiated by Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) through its foundation, Yayasan TM (YTM). TM Kedah Perlis received RM60,000 in funds from YTM to implement the Tolong Menolong Initiative. The objectives were to help the affected community and small businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Movement Control Order (MCO). The Initiative adopted a two-pronged approach, providing necessities to those in need by purchasing items from nearby SME businesses to help them survive. As the leader of TM Kedah Perlis, Mr Yusof and his SRE team were responsible for identifying the affected areas and community. At the same time, SME Kedah Perlis's department was responsible for selecting the affected SME retail and sundry shops based on the criteria provided to them. The news relating to the Tolong Menolong Initiative was reported as part of the collective humanitarian effort of TM to provide immediate relief to those adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Initiative was publicised through the local newspapers, the company's annual report, the TM Bulletin, and the website. However, the question was whether the Initiative had indirectly boosted TM's reputation and image. |
