Abstract: PMAY grocery store: Unveiling the truth of AIS implementation introduces students to understand the fundamental roles of AIS in the business and provides them with the opportunity to debate and discuss the plethora of issues that PMAY staff and trustees face when implementing AIS. Eva, the manager of Pasar Mini Anugerah Yakin (PMAY) which is located in Sik, wondered whether the company had invested over a white elephant project. Despite the fact that the SQL accounting system might be used to assist business operations, particularly in maintaining proper accounting and inventory records, however, the system was set up specifically for SmartPOS operations. SmartPOS allowed cashiers to process payments efficiently using a touch or scan action. As a result, the SQL accounting system was not used to its full potential. Hence, keeping proper accounting and inventory records for its trade goods remained a struggle for PMAY. The case also allows students to explore the business process, investigate the weaknesses of the existing system, analyse the impact of the weaknesses of the existing system on business performance, and suggest relevant audit procedures for inclusion in the PMAY audit plan.
