The case focuses on the business expansion strategies by KUSATEX Sdn. Bhd. as an SME and a Bumiputera company, in a fabric-related industry and in a perfect market competition. Mr. Shafiq confronted the challenge to establish KUSATEX in 2003, after a year of ISBEC’s establishment in 2002. With 20 years experience in business consultation and management, Mr. Shafiq had planned his business expansion by initiating several business expansion strategies to result in growth and stability of the company. The study highlights several initiatives taken by the company including enhancing product quality, opening another location, forming an alliance, winning a government contract, and retaining customers and staff. Overall, this case study shows the strategies taken by Mr. Shafiq in his effort to develop and expand the business as an SME.en_US
