dc.description.abstractTASCO BHD is a subsidiary of Yusen Logistics Co. Ltd.(YLK). YLK is one of the leading international air freight forwarders in Japan. In January 2019, TASCO BHD acquired Gold Cold Transport Sdn Bhd, Inc. (GCT) and MILS Cold Chain Logistics Sdn. Bhd. (MCCL), two leading cold chain logistics providers in Malaysia, under demand for refrigerated transportation and cold storage facilities for perishable products, such as fresh produce, beverages, and pharmaceuticals. Both companies have obtained halal logistics certification from the Malaysian government’s certification organization, the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM), and are able to provide cold-chain services for halal foods in Malaysia. With this acquisition, TASCO aims to expand it business as one of the Halal Logistics Provider in Northern Malaysia and Southern Thailand. However, in midst of the journey, TASCO encountered various issues and challenges as to become the leader in this segment. The main objective of this case study is to discuss the strategic resource planning and the main issues in implementing halal logistics. Students will learn how firm use its strategic resource and capabilities to build resilient strategies that sustain competitive advantage in the Halal Logistics segment. Students will also understand how firm practice halal logistics and challenges faced by TASCO in implementing Halal Logistics. It is expected that the case study will design to illustrate the practical application of the theoretical concepts covered during international logistics, international strategic management, and international business lecturesen_US
