Teaching cases offer students the opportunity to explore real world challenges in the classroom environment, allowing them to test their assumptions and decision-making skills before taking their knowledge into the workplace. The Institute of Management and Business Research (IMBRe), Universiti Utara Malaysia specialises in case content from, and about, emerging markets – regions which are traditionally underrepresented in teaching case collections, but which offer unique and important insights. Through digitalisation, we intend to ease and increase accesses for, and usages of, our teaching cases as well as to widen our user-base to not only for local academics/trainers, but also for our international counterparts.
CDR is intended for communities of academics and training consultants - to make use of the teaching cases to teach certain concepts or theories, not through theoretical perspective but more on applications based on real-life practices. At the same time, use of teaching cases enables users to put themselves in the shoes of the case protagonist, and try to make decision and/or solve the real problems faced by the case protagonist in the teaching case. Apart from academics, cases offered by CDR will also benefit those trainers/consultants conducting short training courses on motivations and human capital/managerial developments.
